I see some interesting posts, and a lot of lashing out - which corresponds to what Donkey is saying. I hope she progresses and heals and moves forward in her life. Best Wishes, and SP, may you have all the things you wish for.

Someone is hurting
by donkey ini am writing this thread because i hope it fosters some positive communication although i may end up being deleted for it.. to start with a discliamer: i am no fan of stinkypantz posts - they just aren't that interesting to me.. that being said i now see sp was deleted.
my first reaction to that was anger.
sp posted stuff about being close to a nervous breakdown, wishing she could just "disappear" etc....she is obviously someone in pain right now.. we have been constantly censured about how this is a place of healing and we need to keep it that way for people who need healing, support and comfort.. so i only hope sp has been "temporarily suspended" (not deleted) for her own good and no because she pissed off some moderator.

Subconciously Learning Mind Control Techniques from the WTS
by Nosferatu ini'm wondering if any of you have experienced this.
we all know that the wts blamed the r&f for being too anxious when it came to the 1975 issue, and a lot of them bought it.. i've had many experiences with my mother when it came to me relating a childhood memory, and my mother tells me "you don't remember that!
you just remember seeing pictures of it, or what i've told you".

So when you say "mind control", is that the same as manipulation?
I think that if you're skilled at rationalizing your wacko religion, you're probably skilled at rationalizing your own behaviors, including manipulation. Nothing taught there. Plenty of Witnesses "learn" to go along with the flow and not try to manipulate anything, including their own material position - which is the diametrically opposite view. I would say that this is a tendency that is independent of JWs.

Dude, if you think that only JW parents do that, think again.
People get older and remember what they want to. It's not a JW thang.

Why would you want to be in a relationship with someone that you feel that you need to fix/rescue first? Hell, how did you attract that relationship? You might want to know the answer to that for your own reasons - so think about it as you RUN AWAY.

Consumer Spending Dips 0.3 Percent In September, consumer spending on "durable" goods ? big-ticket items, such as cars and appliances, expected to last at least three years, was cut by 5.1 percent.
By JEANNINE AVERSA, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Consumers kept a tighter grip on their wallets in September, trimming spending by 0.3 percent after a summertime shopping spree that propelled a third quarter of strong economic growth.

Quote Data provided by ReutersMissed Tech Tuesday?
The largest over-the-month decrease in spending in a year, reported Friday by the Commerce Department ( news - web sites ), came after consumer spending shot up by 1 percent in July and then another 1.1 percent in August. Consumers spent more lavishly earlier as they began to see the cash from President Bush ( news - web sites)'s third round of tax cuts.
Economists had said in advance of Friday's report that the brisk pace of spending ? which helped spur a 7.2 percent annual rate of growth in the third quarter ? just couldn't be sustained. They had predicted that shoppers would rein in their finances in September, and they did just that.
Analysts had forecast a 0.1 percent decrease in spending. The 0.3 percent decline was the largest since a 0.4 percent drop in September 2002.
Super-low short-term interest rates, the tax cuts and a refinancing wave helped to support spending and give the economy an energizing jolt in the summer.
The missing piece, however, for a sustained rebound is steady improvement in the nation's battered labor market, which has seen millions of job evaporate over the last three years, economists say. The risk: a prolonged sluggishness, or worse, a deterioration on the jobs front could crimp consumer spending, something that would slow the rebound.
Although economists are optimistic the job situation will get better, it is something that they are keeping a close eye on.
"The bottom line: job creation determines income and income drives spending," said Richard Yamarone, economist with Argus Research Corp. "There are a number of signs of improving labor market conditions, however, the job creation picture remains skittish."
As the stimulus provided by the tax cuts fades, the economy is expected to slow but still grow at a solid rate of perhaps 4 percent in the final quarter of this year, economists say.
In September, consumer spending on "durable" goods ? big-ticket items, such as cars and appliances, expected to last at least three years, was cut by 5.1 percent, reversing part of August's 3.8 percent gain.
But for "nondurables" such as food and clothes, consumers boosted spending by 0.3 percent in September, after a 1.4 percent increase the previous month. Consumer spending on services, meanwhile, rose 0.4 percent in September, up from a 0.3 percent gain in August.

Why does God create abominations?
by CPiolo inmany religious folks, including fundamentalists, moderates and liberals, from a multitude of faiths, including jehovah?s witnesses, claim that homosexuals, bisexuals and trans-gendered individuals are abominations in the eyes of god.
they believe these people are sinners of the worst sort, that their behavior is a perversion, is evil, dangerous and a threat to society, the family and/or ?family values.?
these poor souls are going to be punished in some way by god for their choices and behavior ?

CP, it looks as if almost everybody is taking your question as a somewhat rhetorical artifice - that you are making a point, not asking for explanation.
If you really are looking for explanation... well, you might want to say something.

What was the purpose of Creation?
by ClassAvenger ini was talking to some jehovah witness in a bible study, and we got into a conversation of heaven.
i told him that we would all be in heaven and live there, and he told me, "what would be the point of god creating the whole earth and putting us here then destroying it?
wouldn't it just be easier to repair the earth and place us here again?

You were having a religious discussion with a JW? That must be like (deleted by me:) shampooing with a cheese grater - slightly amusing, but mostly, painful.

technically, the GDP grew -however, there was still a net loss of jobs for the quarter, and there are not enough jobs being added each month to accomodate the new entrants to the job market.

Exceprt:
But thus far, the Bush boom rests more on hope than hard data?and on a pretty weak definition of a boom.
Some of the Bush boom is a matter of defining performance. We have yet to see two consecutive quarters of impressive growth. And even if John Snow's prediction of 2 million new jobs in the next 12 months materializes, that is still poor by historical standards. That breaks down to only 166,000 new jobs per month?which barely covers the 150,000 new job-market entrants each month and leaves a mere handful of positions for the millions of jobless who are currently seeking work. Between October 1993 and October 2000, the economy created an average of 2.88 million jobs per year. That's a boom.

Faith beyond beliefs
by Narkissos into make a long story short, i'm an xjw from france: born and baptized as a catholic, i became a jw in 1972 at the age of 13 with part of my family; then a pioneer and a bethel member, before being disfellowshipped for "apostasy" in 1986. afterwards, involved in theology and bible edition with the mainstream protestant churches, slowly drifting from the evangelical to the liberal wing and finally out of all religious groups and beliefs.
the "atheologist" label, i guess, would suit fairly enough by now.. the question i'd like to ask my fellow xjw "brothers and sisters" (and there seems to be plenty of them around .
the question is especially directed to those of you who would not easily term themselves "christians", and who have not sticked to any recognized "creed".

I've not found precepts in Christianity that seem unique compared to other religions. "Thou Shalt Not Kill"...duh. The "Golden Rule" is pretty common - see this list: http://www.fragrant.demon.co.uk/golden.html
I don't retain anything just because it's in the Bible. If I find myself in a nomadic society with no modern technology, at least I'll know to avoid pork.
